Maplepaw was extremely delighted at the conversation he was having. After a while he finally heaved himself onto his paws, and yelled, "Race you too the Grove!" He suddenly exploded towards the exit, his paws barely touching the ground. He raced out into the forest, and toward the best spot to hunt. He wasn't paying attention to see where Rootfire was, but he was definitely winning considering he caught him so off guard. He was a fast runner, and he liked running. He was approaching the area, so he slowed down to a to so he didn't scare away the prey. He opened his mouth to try to catch a scent, and actually smelled mouse. He had never really hunted anything other than fish before, so this would be a real treat. He crouched down, his belly fur scraping the forest floor. He moved slowly and carefully, keeping his eye on the mouse. He was about to spring when all of the sudden, the mouse saw him! It shot out of the bush and scurried away. He was mad. He raced after the mouse, determined to catch the small creature. He was catching up, and when he was just close enough, he lunged forward with all his might. His claws landed on the mouse, and he pinned it down. he quickly bent down and snapped its neck, now calming own a bit. He headed back and dropped the mouse down. He covered it with some leaves and looked up to see Rootfire. "Can I see how to properly hunt, I'll never catch anything good if I hunt like this. I've never really hunted land creatures before. I'll just watch you hunt and see what I can learn." He meowed, sitting down and watching to see what Rootfire would do next.

all of a sudden, maplepaw yelled, "Race you to the grove!" and was on his paws running away. Stunned, rootfire stood up and bean to stumble after maplepaw. Not being the best runner, he was really slow. by the time he got there, maplepaw was in the middle of catching a mouse. When he snapped the neck of it and asked, "Can I see how to properly hunt, I'll never catch anything good if I hunt like this. I've never really hunted land creatures before. I'll just watch you hunt and see what I can learn," rootfire began to feel worried. The only type of hunting he ushally did was hunting for women. "Well, im probably not the persson you want to teach you how to hunt. I ushally have other cats hunt for me." By the look in maplepaws eyes, he knew that he was confused. "I didn't mean I make people do it. THey just do it for me because they wnt to." That wass one thing that they had not really talked about was women. "I will show you what I do know, but it is probably worse thn you." He sat still and turned his earss, trying to hear somethin. Ater a little, he heard what he thought was a bird. he turned his head towards the sound. He walked into the bushes on the side of the clearing where they were sitting. there on the ground was a birds nest.inside it was two baby birds. he looked up and saw the tree where it must have fallen out of. Not wanting to be embarassed, he reached don to kill one of the birds. Bfore he touched the brd, he had a sharp pain in his ear. Aboev him was a falcoon. it must have been the mom. He screeched and hit the bird off his head and ran back into the clearing. There, maplepaw was laughing his butt off. Blushing, rootfire said, "You cant do better!"

Maplepaw was laughing so hard, his sides hurt. "Yes-" He wheezed from laughing so hard, "I can!" He flopped onto the forest floor, taking in deep breaths trying to regain his sanity. He giggled a bit more, stood up straight, and opened his mouth. He scented a squirrel, and he wanted it bad. Maplepaw crouched down as low as he good, to where he could almost feel the forest floor on his skin. He had hunted once before in the woods, and he guess he just had to teach him self now. He kept his tail low, and stepped lightly on his paws. The squirrel was in sight. It was occupied eating a nut, and it was fat too. It would be an easy catch. He snuck up behind the old fat squirrel, and pounced on it hard, his talons outstretched. He snapped the plump squirrel's neck with his teeth, and paraded it back to Rootfire. "So, what were you saying?" He smirked, looking into Rootfire's eyes. He flicked his tail in triumph and covered the squirrel with leaves and cold snow. He then sat down on the icy, powdery mess, curling his over his paws. "Let's see if you can help the clan for once, since apparently, everyone else catches everything for you." He said, almost in a disgusted tone. Maplepaw was a firm believer in that if you were to get fed, you had to work for it. It wasn't fair for anyone to sit down and get fat while everyone else works for it, that's what kittypets do. Of course unless they didn't have the ability to hunt. Though, Rootfire did, and he expected him to at least try. "If an apprentice can catch something, so can you!" He told the she-cat obsessed tom. He shook the snowflakes off his pelt, and set his gaze on Rootfire. "Your turn now." He said with a smirk as he sat up taller.
